Human Performance Community of Practice Roundtable Explores How Index Offerings Transform Learning

Index AR Solutions leaders were on hand for a recent Human Performance (HP) Community of Practice virtual roundtable hosted by KnowledgeVine, a leading provider of HP improvement services. The Index presentation, entitled Improving Content Retention in Training and Learning, explored how technology and science have come together to optimize human performance and the way people learn.

KnowledgeVine’s HP Community of Practice is composed of professionals from various industries and academia who are committed to the best practices and principles of Human Performance and continuous improvement. Participants share concepts, lessons learned, data, and research to help members and their organizations improve their effectiveness, safety and functionality.

The virtual roundtable presented by Index focused on how Index augmented reality (AR) mobile apps and eBooks provide a powerful new way of teaching today’s students and workers. With multimodal tools created by Index, clients such as utilities, educational institutions and others go beyond simply presenting learners with information, they help them understand how to use that information.

Index presenters included Application Engineer Hank Mast and Technical Writers Felicia Bowens and Summer Cozzens. The trio walked attendees through how Index apps support the acquisition and retention of content knowledge and skills thanks to their design, accessibility and practical application. Preserved experience is also key. Index apps effectively capture experiential knowledge and expertise from subject matter experts. This frees up time for instructors and improves learner engagement through endless possibilities of simulated learning experiences.

Attendees discussed concerns about how new hires, apprentices and even established employees struggle in various ways, such as limited understanding of mathematical and mechanical concepts, and they are often weak or lacking in fundamental skills. Index eBooks are a proven solution to many of those learning challenges. Packed with multimodal content, Index eBooks present theoretical concepts in a variety of ways, and learners can navigate them at their own pace – any time, anywhere.

The technologies are the foundation of Apprentice Program solutions from Index that are helping major companies address a variety of staffing and education challenges such as remote learning, the increase in skilled worker retirement and more. Index apps and eBooks are also increasingly being utilized in college classrooms.

Index is a frequent participant in HP Community of Practice events. During a previous roundtable, the company shared how MidAmerican Energy is using Index Apprentice Program solutions for training as well as to reinforce Human Performance Improvement (HPI). HPI tools were strategically placed throughout training eBooks that remind workers of important safety or procedural considerations at certain steps in a process. Ultimately, Index is helping MidAmerican institutionalize HPI concepts in a very effective way.
