The Index AR Solutions team was on hand recently at the 2024 Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) Summit, a valuable platform for industry leaders seeking to address pressing workforce challenges and exchange innovative solutions.
Among the highlights of the event was Index’s participation, where team members co-presented with Eversource Energy to showcase a groundbreaking approach to apprentice training using Index’s cutting-edge eBooks and mobile apps.
Eversource Energy, a leader in utility services across New England, has been at the forefront of leveraging digital tools to bridge the skills gap in its workforce. By collaborating with Index, Eversource is implementing a suite of Index eBooks and mobile apps designed to enhance the learning experience for apprentices, making complex concepts more accessible and engaging.
At the CEWD Summit’s Discovery Zone, representatives from both Index and Eversource highlighted the significant advantages of multimodal digital training tools from Index:
- Interactive Learning: Index eBooks and apps incorporate multimedia elements, such as 3D animations and videos, to make technical concepts easier to grasp.
- Accessibility on the Job: Trainees can access the materials anytime, anywhere, ensuring learning is not confined to the classroom.
- Improved Retention: The digital format supports various learning styles, boosting comprehension and knowledge retention.
By deploying Index Apprentice Program training materials as part of its Field Engineering and Field Communication program, Eversource expects to achieve onboarding times, greater knowledge retention, and increased confidence among trainees, among other benefits.
The CEWD is a non-profit consortium of more than 120 energy companies, contractors, associations, unions, educators, and business partners working together to ensure a skilled, diverse workforce pipeline to meet future industry needs. The group’s annual Workforce Development Summit assembles energy industry thought leaders for networking, strategic dialogues, and insight into best practices within the industry and beyond.
Index has participated in the Summit for several years now, showcasing how companies are transforming apprenticeships and staff training with the addition of interactive Index eBooks and mobile apps to their educational offerings.
In 2022, Index client MidAmerican Energy received a CEWD Impact Award for implementing a series of initiatives and programs, including Index training programs, that promote a skilled, diverse talent pipeline for the energy sector. The Index client earned a Chairman’s Award for Workforce Development Leadership, CEWD’s highest honor.
